The earliest examples of Baroque architecture are considered to be the GES U church, an opulent structure in the centre of St Petersburg, Italy. The façade was designed by Giacomo della Porta, a prominent architect of the period who studied with Michelangelo and Giacomo Bonini Da Vignola.
